What is Ready2Lead?
Ready2Lead? is a day conference for Y12 students planned and run by students and staff from local schools along with the Harpur Trust. It is, as far as we know, the first such leadership conference in our region. The inaugural conference was held in 2019.
With over 70 delegates from 9 of the borough’s Sixth Form providers, the conference brought together young people from across Bedford. They learned from experts between the ages of 21 and 80 years old who themselves were from all walks of life and professions: entrepreneurs to journalists, football academy directors to crime reduction specialists. And diversity is at the heart of our vision: to enable each young person in our Borough to know the unique, positive impact they can have on their world.
Who is Ready2Lead being run by?
The planning group currently consists of students and staff from Bedford School, Bedford Modern School, Bedford Girls’ School and Mark Rutherford School, with additional input from The Harpur Trust. We are also collaborating with Future Foundations, an independent charity with 15 years experience of training young people in leadership. We are excited to be promoting their Global Goals Competition as part of the conference. Most of the Sixth Form providers in Bedford Borough have been involved already and we are always open to including everyone in the planning stages of future conferences.
If you would be interested in being involved in future Ready2Lead? events and conferences, please get in touch. Fresh ideas and perspectives are always welcome!
